World Gas Conference Moves To 2022
01 December 2020
The International Gas Union’s (IGU’s) Council has rescheduled the 28th World Gas Conference for 2022 amid concerns about the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The conference, held every three years at a different location worldwide, will occur May 23-27, 2022 in Daegu, South Korea.
The IGU Council will also rebrand the event as WGC2022 and realign its three-year schedule to accommodate the change. That decision will allow the event to occur in 2025 and 2028 and so forth in three-year increments.
IGU President Joe M. Kang said rescheduling the conference created certainty for all conference participants.
“Our aim is to protect and enhance the role of WGC as the premier global event for natural gas. Particularly, WGC2022 will be the first world-scale energy conference and exhibition in 2022, he said. “Rescheduling until 2022 also facilitates pro-active planning and innovation opportunities with a goal to present an event that reflects the evolving needs of participants and the industry.”
The event’s rescheduling also extends the term of the current IGU presidency, held by Korea, to May 2022. The following presidency terms in 2025 and 2028 will be held by China and Italy, respectively. The event will be held in Beijing in 2025 and Milan in 2028.
According to the IGU Council, WGC2022 will attract more than 12,000 attendees and 350 exhibitors from 500 companies and more than 90 countries.
