Zahroof Valves has added two new products to its portfolio – a conversion of a jack bolt restrained conventional valve to an O-ring cap and cage StraightFlo valve and an engine scavenger valve.
The O-ring cage and cap serve as a replacement for a traditional jack bolt restrained valve system on reciprocating compressors. In the jack-bolt system, the valve cap bolts compress the gasket under the valve cap. The jack bolt then compresses the gasket under the valve. The second process, however, relieves pressure on the gasket under the cap, which can cause leakage.
With Zahroof’s product, a conversion ring goes in the cylinder, providing a surface for the O-ring on the new valve cap to seal against. The compression of the gasket under the valve is achieved by tightening the valve cap screws and does not affect the valve cap seal. This conversion does not require any machining or modification of the cylinder. This alleviates leakage concerns and simplifies maintenance of the compressor.
“Our novel solution provides a method that can be installed in the field without any machining of the cylinder and is easy to install,” said Zahroof Mohamed, president of Zahroof Valves. “Moreover, when you are servicing the valve normally, you don’t have to remove the conversion ring. It ideally becomes part of the cylinder.”
The engine scavenger valve is a drop-in/bolt-on replacement valve for existing feather valves used in two-stroke engines that power compressors. The engine scavenger valve uses the same modules as in the StraightFlo compressor valves and is designed to last the life of a typical slow-speed engine.
