PDM Analysis Upgrades Legacy Software

SCORG enhances positive displacement screw compressor design efficiency
PDM Analysis has refined its analysis software to improve the efficiency of positive displacement screw machines, including compressors, expanders, pumps and motors.
The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling software, known as screw compressor rotor grid generator (SCORG), can reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions from screw compressors by up to 5%, according to PDM Analysis, a spin-out company from City, University of London.
The use of this software, with computational modeling analysis, could produce energy savings equivalent to over 1% of the total energy bill of the United States, the company said, which has also released a cloud computing extension for the software, known as SCORG Alto.
The efficiency benefits are possible by enabling designers and manufacturers to comprehensively evaluate and optimize their machines to improve performance and reduce emissions.
