TurboTides, Empower in software development partnership

Hanover, New Hampshire-based TurboTides, Inc., marketer of advanced turbomachinery design technology, has announced a new partnership with Vancouver, British Columbia-based Empower Operations, a provider of AI algorithms and optimization software, to offer a turbomachinery design integration software system that includes rapid iteration, simulation and optimization.

In addition to developing what the companies called a first-of-its-kind software system that will drastically cut time-to-market for turbomachinery products, the new partnership will combine the direct sales and reseller networks of each company for the international sale of the new product. Effective earlier this year, the two companies started working together to release the new software system, called AI Optimized Turbomachinery, by early June.

TurboTides said what the announcement means for turbomachinery designers under pressure to deliver powerful, yet energy-saving machines is that they will be able to design compressors, fans, pumps, blowers, expanders and turbines with a seamlessly integrated design workflow combined with a powerful optimizer to achieve fast turnaround times for their design iterations.

“One of TurboTides’ main strengths,” said Xuwen Qiu, Ph.D., president and founder of TurboTides, “is its seamlessly integrated workflow that combines parameterized geometry, automatic meshing, CFD and FEA in a single program that can be easily invoked by an optimizer, while the OASIS’ advanced AI-driven optimization algorithm allows the program to find the optimum design with minimum sampling, which drastically cuts down the time needed for a typical 3D CFD and FEA optimization. “I believe our users will be thrilled when they employ this powerful tool and come up with a better design through this user-friendly and automated process.”

AI Optimized Turbomachinery, co-developed by TurboTides, Inc. and Empower Operations Corp. is a stand-alone product with sales and software support to be provided by both companies and their respective resellers. It will be available for purchase in June.
