Titan International Inc. (Titan) and the recently acquired Carlstar Group are launching the Variable Pressure Operation (VPO) Technology in the Carlstar booth at Equip Exposition, October 15-18 in Louisville, Ky. The new flat-proof technology provides the ability to effectively operate machinery at various inflation pressures down to 0 psi.

“We first developed this technology for military applications. It has since been tested extensively with Polaris and is now adapted for consumer use,” said Chris Daum, general manager of Outdoor Power Equipment at Titan. “We put a lot of thought and passion into the product design with function at the forefront — it’s cool, aggressive-looking appearance is a bonus.”

The pressure adjustability of VPO Technology allows operators to adapt the inflation pressure to suit different terrains and applications. Additional features include shock-absorbing properties to minimize whole-body vibration, and a closed sidewall to prevent debris from getting stuck between the spokes, which Titan said avoids sidewall damage, minimizes balance issues and prevents other handling problems.

According to the company, testing has shown that tires equipped with VPO Technology can run for hundreds of miles at 30 mph with zero pressure. In addition, the technology is suited to various applications, allowing operation with or without large attachments while using the same set of tires, Titan added.

When coupled with VPO Technology, Titan said the tread pattern on the Carlstar Invictus tire provides enhanced and balanced traction, self-cleaning capabilities, improved heat dissipation, evenly distributed ground pressure and more.

Other products on display include the Carlstar Turf Master, Versa Turf Non-Directional, Smooth and Grasszilla tires, and the Goodyear R14T and Softrac Pro.

Titan acquires Carlstar Group Specialty tires formerly branded Carlisle now part of Titan Intl.
