Agreement aimed at strengthening rotating equipment services
Sulzer, a global leader in rotating equipment services and critical infrastructure support, has signed a 10-year strategic service partnership with Manweir WLL, the oil and gas services arm of Mannai Corp. This collaboration will expand local repair and maintenance capabilities for rotating equipment in Qatar’s natural gas, power, water desalination, and industrial sectors.
Under the agreement, Sulzer’s rotating equipment specialists will be based at Manweir’s Ras Laffan facility, bringing operational expertise directly to Qatar’s industrial hub. This strategic move reduces turnaround times for critical equipment repairs by eliminating the need to send machinery out of the country for service, while ensuring access to OEM-quality repairs, upgrades, and performance optimization, the companies said.
Enhancing in-country rotating equipment capabilities
For Qatar’s natural gas industry—where compressors, pumps, turbines, and motors form the backbone of upstream and downstream operations—the availability of in-country service options is vital, the companies said. The Ras Laffan hub, strategically located within Qatar’s primary LNG and petrochemical complex, will now serve as a center for maintenance, overhaul, and reengineering services for rotating equipment, leveraging Sulzer’s global expertise alongside Manweir’s established local presence.
“This partnership allows us to deliver high-quality, OEM-standard service with faster lead times and improved operational flexibility for Qatar’s natural gas and industrial customers,” said Alex Myers, president of Sulzer Services INMEC Region. “With the strategic alignment from both parties, we’re positioned to offer best-in-class service solutions while supporting Qatar’s industrial growth ambitions.”
Aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030
This alliance directly supports Qatar’s National Vision 2030 and the country’s In-Country Value (ICV) program, which prioritizes the development of local industrial services and supply chains. By combining Sulzer’s OEM technical capabilities and global service standards with Manweir’s regional infrastructure and workforce, the partnership enhances Qatar’s capacity to service critical rotating machinery in-country, reducing dependency on foreign supply chains.

“We’re delighted to partner with Sulzer, combining Manweir’s strong local capabilities with Sulzer’s proven international expertise,” said Neil Angus, general manager of Manweir WLL. “This partnership accelerates service innovation, enhances reliability, and provides natural gas operators with a comprehensive, one-stop solution for rotating equipment lifecycle management in Qatar.”
Building a resilient, responsive service network
The partnership reflects a broader trend in the energy sector towards regionalizing maintenance and asset management services for rotating equipment. By embedding skilled Sulzer technicians within the Ras Laffan facility, the two companies are improving access to technical expertise, faster repair cycles, and reduced equipment downtime—key priorities for LNG plants, gas processing facilities, and power stations where equipment reliability directly impacts production schedules and operating costs.
Together, Sulzer and Manweir aim to foster long-term collaboration with natural gas operators and industrial customers, providing tailored service agreements, predictive maintenance programs, and asset health monitoring solutions.
Sulzer is a global leader in rotating equipment services, providing solutions for energy, water, and industrial markets. Founded in 1834 and headquartered in Winterthur, Switzerland, Sulzer operates 160 service centers worldwide.
Manweir WLL, a Mannai Corp. subsidiary, provides engineering services to the oil and gas, industrial, and utility sectors in Qatar.
