Petro-Canada launches new gas engine oil
April 14, 2021
Petro-Canada Lubricants has launched Sentron SP 30, a stationary gas engine oil that meets MAN Truck & Bus AG’s latest M 3271-5 and M 3271-2 specifications.
Sentron SP 30 is formulated for high brake mean effective pressure (BMEP) engines operating under high loads and low temperatures, the company said. The oil is formulated with the latest additive technology in combination with Petro-Canada Lubricants’ branded high viscosity index base oil. The combination provides better performance and is 0.8 to 0.9% more fuel efficient than conventional gas engine oils, Petro-Canada Lubricants said.
Sentron SP 30 offers superior thermal and oxidation/nitration stability to that of SAE 40 grade oils, the company said. The better stability extends oil life, reduces acid formation and resists deposit and sludge formation, Petro-Canada Lubricants said. It is also formulated to help keep engines clean and prevents wear of critical components, leading to longer engine life and extended component life, the company said.
“The launch of Sentron SP 30 is a first-of-its-kind innovation in stationary gas engine oil technology, which is why it’s the first SAE 30 stationary gas engine oil to be approved for the MAN M 3271-5 and M 3271-2 specifications,” said Tony Weatherill, senior vice president, commercial, Americas, HollyFrontier Lubricants & Specialties.
The new oil also helps provide better fuel efficiency compared to compared to SAE 40 stationary gas engine oils, the company said. Sentron SP 30 joins the established mid ash product range under the Petro-Canada Lubricants brand.
