Kodiak expanding in Permian

Company building two new facilities for operational capacity, workforce development

Kodiak Gas Services, a leading provider of contract gas compression and related services, has announced the start of construction on two new facilities in the Permian Basin. The projects, located in Midland and Pecos, Texas, are part of Kodiak’s ongoing efforts to enhance operational capacity and workforce development in one of the country’s most active oil and gas producing regions.
The Permian Basin continues to be a critical region for natural gas production, and Kodiak’s latest infrastructure investments are designed to support both current demand and anticipated future growth. The company broke ground on both sites on April 14, 2025, with local officials, partners, and employees on hand for the ceremonies.
“These projects represent our continued investment in our people, our customers, and the communities where we operate,” said Chad Lenamon, Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer at Kodiak. “We’re focused on building long-term operational strength in this region.”
Facility Overviews
Midland Facility The Midland campus will span nearly 22 acres, with over 140,000 square feet of shop, training, and office space. It will also serve as the new home of Bears Academy, Kodiak’s employee training and development center. The facility will feature indoor training labs with virtual reality tools, classrooms, and on-site accommodations for trainees. Completion is scheduled for June 2026.
Pecos Facility The Pecos facility will support Kodiak’s operations in the western portion of the Permian Basin. Situated on nearly nine acres, it will include more than 24,000 square feet of shop and office space dedicated to service operations and customer support. The Pecos site is expected to be operational by December 2025.
Both facilities are designed to improve operational efficiencies, increase service responsiveness, and expand Kodiak’s capacity to train and retain skilled personnel in the field. This approach aligns with ongoing trends in the natural gas sector, where infrastructure investment and workforce development are increasingly important to maintaining safe, reliable production and transportation services.
Headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas, Kodiak Gas Services is one of the largest contract compression providers in the United States, delivering compression and related services to upstream and midstream customers in high–volume gas gathering systems, processing facilities, gas lift applications, and natural gas transmission systems.
