Images | Construction of world’s longest cable-stayed bridge nears completion

The Changtai Yangtze River Bridge, which connects the cities of Changzhou and Taizhou in Jiangsu province, China, will be a total of 10.3 kilometres long. The steel truss girder sections of the main bridge were fully connected earlier this year, ahead of opening to traffic in April next year.

The bridge is being constructed by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group and China Railway Hi-Tech Industry, following a design by China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute.

The main span of the bridge is 1,208 metres, while the structure also features two steel arch bridges, each of which has a span of 388 metres.
