GMRC convention called off

Organizers hope to reschedule

The GMRC Gas Machinery Conference, originally scheduled for Oct 6-9 in Tampa, Fla., has been called off due to weather concerns, organizers announced.

“Due to Tropical Storm Milton’s expected impact, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the in-person portion of the GMC,” organizers said in a release. “The safety and well-being of our attendees, speakers, and staff are our top priorities, and given the situation, we believe this is the best course of action.”

Milton’s expected landfall comes less than two weeks after Hurricane Helene left more than 200 dead and thousands with flooded and damaged homes across the southeast.

The storm is projected to be a Category 3 or stronger when it makes landfall Wednesday and could bring 10 feet or more of storm surge — almost double that of Hurricane Helene.

Organziers said they are exploring options to reschedule the conference and will provide updates quickly.
