For equipment and services used in explosive atmospheres
Elta, a UK-based specialist in air movement equipment, has received IECEx Certification for the firm’s Fareham factory for its range of direct driven axial fans.
IECEx is the International Electrotechnical Commission’s (IEC) certification program for equipment and services used in explosive atmospheres. A globally recognized standard, it ensures that products and services comply with the highest safety requirements for use in hazardous environments, the company said. Elta achieved the certification following a two-year auditing period.
Already ATEX-rated, the latest achievement underscores Elta’s dedication to providing reliable and safe solutions for industries operating in potentially explosive atmospheres such as on offshore oil and gas platforms, power generation, and chemical processing, the company said.
Although IECEx certification is voluntary for manufacturers, governments in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and many countries in South America already adopt the IECEx certification as a mandatory requirement to tender for projects related to explosive atmospheres.
“All industries where there is the potential for explosion are beginning to see the value in having equipment that is third-party certified, and that is why we are thrilled to receive the IECEx certification,” said Neville Tubb, Chief Engineer at Elta. “It reinforces our position as a trusted partner in the industry and highlights our ability to meet the stringent safety standards required.”
