Capstone appoints Flexon as board chair

Capstone Turbine Corp. has appointed Robert Flexon, director of its Board of Directors, as its chair. The move, effective Jan. 1, 2021, replaces Holly Van Deursen, a Capstone veteran since 2007, who remains on the Board of Directors as an independent director.

Flexon, also a member of Capstone’s audit and compensation committees, serves as the chair of the board for PG&E Corp., a role he obtained in July 2020. Flexon previously served as Capstone’s director since 2018; as president and chief executive officer of Dynegy Inc., an independent power producer and electricity marketer, from 2011 to 2018; and also as chief financial officer and chief operating officer of NRG Energy.

The new appointment coincides with the rise of worldwide green energy initiatives, as well as the election of Joe Biden as the next U.S. president, whose administration has outlined a US$2 million plan to address climate change.
