Baker Hughes partners in green technologies
30 January 2023
At the Baker Hughes 2023 Annual Meeting, the company announced a Memorandum of Understanding with Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) for the joint exploration of new technology solutions in the production of green hydrogen, green ammonia and in geothermal projects.
Baker Hughes will cooperate with its technologies and expertise in liquefaction and compression, in turboexpanders and hydrogen-fuelled turbines. For geothermal projects, Baker Hughes will contribute expertise with existing technologies and digital solutions for asset performance management and process optimization.
According to Baker Hughes’ Chairman and CEO, Lorenzo Simonelli, FFI and Baker Hughes share ambitions for transforming and accelerating the energy transition. He said: “Our portfolio of technologies can help place both companies at the forefront of tackling climate change with practical and implementable solutions.”
The two companies aspire to bring early-stage technologies to commercial scale faster than what otherwise would be possible and to contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the energy production industry and in hard-to-abate industrial sectors as for example mining, steel and cement.
The CEO of Fortescue Future Industries, Mark Hutchinson, said:” There is an enormous demand for green hydrogen and green energy, and engineering solutions such as those pioneered by Baker Hughes are vital to increasing supply.”
The Baker Hughes Annual Meeting 2023 takes place on 30 and 31 January in Florence, Italy. More information can be found on the event’s website.
