Gas Turbine Takeover

05 December 2017

Dutch gas turbine maker OPRA Turbines B.V. has a new owner following the acquisition of its shares by China’s Dalian Energas Group.

OPRA Turbines will continue to operate from its new headquarters in Hengelo, the Netherlands, as a member of Energas Group although Jan and Hiroko Mowill, who founded OPRA in 1991, have retired from the company.

OPRA Turbines makes gas turbine based generator sets in the 2 MW power range within the oil and gas, bioenergy and industrial markets. OPRA provides dual fuel and off-specification fuel options in single or multiple installations from 1 to 10 MW electric power demand.

In July this year OPRA opened a new 4000 m2 factory in Hengelo replacing its existing base in the city which is in the eastern part of The Netherlands. The factory is based in the newly developed HighTech Systems Park.

The new offices and production space include natural gas pipeline access, research and development facilities, assembly, packaging and engine testing capabilities. The company has sold more than 125 gas turbine driven generator packages to date.

Founded in 2002 energy equipment maker Dalian Energas Group, headquartered in Dalian, interests includes Dalian Energas Gas System Co. Ltd., Dalian Energas New Energy Development Co. Ltd, Calorifer Engineering AG (Switzerland), RMG Messtechnik GmbH (Germany) and OPRA.
