Crowley and Naturgy have signed a multi-year agreement to ensure the regular delivery of U.S. mainland-sourced liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Naturgy’s facility in Peñuelas, Puerto Rico.
Under the deal, Crowley’s LNG carrier, American Energy, will transport LNG to the island. The 900-foot-long vessel, capable of carrying 130,400 cubic meters of LNG per voyage, will operate in compliance with the U.S. Coast Guard Authorization Act of 1996 and holds a CAP 1 safety rating, ensuring it meets all regulatory standards.
Puerto Rico Governor Jenniffer González-Colón welcomed the new partnership, highlighting its role in improving the island’s energy grid. “This initiative increases access to U.S.-sourced LNG and will help stabilize our energy infrastructure, providing a more reliable power source for residents and businesses,” she said.

Tom Crowley, chairman and CEO of Crowley Corporation, emphasized the significance of the agreement. “LNG is a reliable, lower-emission energy source that supports Puerto Rico’s growing power needs while benefiting American energy production and jobs,” he said.
Jon Ganuza, general manager of supply and wholesale markets for Naturgy, noted that the deal strengthens the company’s position in the global LNG market and ensures a stable energy supply route for Puerto Rico.
