EIA: Nat Gas Prices Fell In Mid-December

Natural gas prices dropped at most locations during the Dec. 14 to Dec. 21 report week, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

The Henry Hub spot price fell 4 cents from US$3.52/MMBtu to US$3.48/MMBtu. The New York Mercantile Exchange saw its January 2017 contract stay flat at US$3.54/MMBtu, the EIA said.

Net natural gas withdrawals from storage hit 209 Bcf (5.9 X 109 m3) for the week ending on Dec. 16. Gas stocks sit 2% above the five year (2011-2015) average for this week and 6% below last year’s amount at 3.5 Tcf (0.10 X 1012 m3), according to the EIA.
