Contractor embroiled in bid rigging scandal gets a new name
31 July 2023
British contractor Morrisroe Group has announced a rebranding of its subsidiary company Cantillon Demolition, which will now be known as Morrisroe Demolition.
Morrisroe acquired Cantillon back in October of 2020 in a move that broadened the company’s portfolio and enabled the group to provide a “full demolition and basement box service”.
While Cantillon was among several contractors recently fined by the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority for bid rigging, the rebranding is said to be part of a previously planned integration strategy that further brings two of the group’s brands under the same umbrella.
According to the company, the rebrand intends to “present a clearer message” about the services it offers to the construction and demolition markets.
Brian Morrisroe, CEO & Founder of Morrisroe Group, said: “I believe it is the right moment for us to further align our brand.
He added: “Our demolition business increasingly represents us in the early procurement stages, communicating our unique value proposition to our clients.
“The idea of our integrated specialist delivery model encompassing demolition through to the completion of the structure has gained considerable traction in our market, so it made sense that our intention to work seamlessly together ‘as one’ should be reflected in our branding.
“I believe this will create greater internal alignment and will add momentum to our ongoing improvement and future growth plans.”
The change to Cantillon comes hand-in-hand with that of construction company AJ Morrisroe, which will now be known simply as Morrisroe.
The update to the companies’ names will also bring them more in line with the group’s other subsidiary, geotechnical specialist GSS Piling.
Morrisroe acquired GSS Piling in May of 2019 along with its sister firm Geostructural Solutions, and two years later established Morrisroe Piling as a key brand that now operates under the geotechnical specialist.
