Burckhardt Makes Gas Storage Sale In Hungary

Burckhardt Compression will deliver a high-speed compressor to Ganzair in Hungary for injecting natural gas from a pipeline to an underground gas storage facility. The ISO 13631 compliant compressor will be the first high-speed compressor made by Burckhardt Compression for this type of application in Europe.

Underground reservoirs are used to store large amounts of compressed natural gas along international pipeline networks for balancing fluctuations between gas supply and demand. “We are pleased to expand our offering of compressor systems to this application area and that we can offer now solutions for gas pipeline to storage applications,” said Marcel Pawlicek, CEO of Burckhardt Compression.

The single-stage compressor will be manufactured at Shenyang Yuanda Compressor, one of China’s major compressor manufacturers in which Burckhardt Compression owns a 60% stake.

“Weare pleased with the product support and compressor expertise that Burckhardt Compression brings to our project,” said Oliver Gidai, CEO of Ganzair. “We are looking forward for a successful partnership.”

Burckhardt Compression now offers a high-speed product line that covers a range of 100 kW to 7.5 MW and is suitable for a range of upstream and midstream applications.
