Blastin’ & Blowin’: MAN Secures Another Steel Industry Order

Indian steel giants JSW and Tata have placed orders for MAN Diesel & Turbo MAX1 axial compressor trains to be used as blast furnace blowers.

Earlier this year, MAN secured a similar order with Swedish steel producer SSAB.

JSW has ordered two trains for its steel works in Dolvi, India.The trains comprise an axial compressor, electric motor and auxiliaries and supply units. MAN will also be supplying on-site training for local operating personnel.

Tata, which is currently seeking to merge its European division with Germany-based Thyssenkrupp, has ordered one blast furnace blower based on MAX1 technology for a production site in the Dutch city of Ijmuiden. This blower will be powered by a steam turbine.
