Harsco Reaches “Cool” Milestone

Company ships 100,000th ASME-certified cooler section

Harsco Industrial Air-X-Changers/Hammco's 100,000th cooler section will be used in the Permian Basin in a gas compression package.

Harsco Industrial Air-X-Changers/Hammco has shipped its 100,000th ASME-certified cooler section. The cooler section is the main component of an HAXC Model 156 EH cooler. The vertical-discharge, forced-draft cooler combines engine and compressor cooling in one unit.

The cooler shipped on April 21 and will be used in the Permian Basin of West Texas in a gas compression package that includes a Caterpillar engine and an Ariel compressor. The package is manufactured by Exterran for the gas compression services firm Archrock.

The cooling section, a core piece of an air-cooled heat exchanger used for cooling natural gas in the compression process, comprises a network of tubes that serve as a pathway for hot compressed gas flows. Air is either forced or pulled across the section by a fan to cool the gas.

Harsco Industrial Air-X-Changers/Hammco is a Tulsa-based provider of cooling systems for natural gas compression and processing, oil refining and other applications. Harsco acquired Hammco in 2014.
